Professor Imre Stephen Szalai

Professor Szalai, a distinguished professor and one of the country’s top authorities on arbitration law, serves as an arbitrator in commercial disputes. He wrote a leading book about the historical development of arbitration law in the United States, and federal and state judges, members of Congress, and hundreds of media outlets have cited his scholarship about arbitration. As a member of the New York and Florida bars, he has experience representing banks, credit card companies, and insurance companies in connection with complex commercial disputes and class actions, and he has experience counseling clients regarding antitrust matters and unfair trade practices. Professor Szalai has also served as an expert consultant for both government and private organizations regarding arbitration matters. As a law professor, he teaches courses in antitrust law, public health law, torts, civil procedure, legal ethics, and alternative dispute resolution. He is the author of articles, book chapters, and books regarding dispute resolution. 

Professor Szalai is fascinated by the development of arbitration law and the uses of arbitration in different societies and time periods, and he created this website to share his research.
